Abstract

In this study, the effect of polymer coating on P-releasing properties of superphosphate fertilizer (SP) was investigated. The SP samples uncoated and coated with three different polymers, polymeracrylamide (PAM), polyacrylic acid (PAA) and copolymer of maleic acid and maleic anhydride (P(AA-co-MAH)) were studied for release properties of phosphorous nutrient in soil. The results showed that for samples coated with polymer, the P-release process took place slower than uncoated samlples. At all times, the content of phosphorous nutrient in soil in the sample P(AA-co-MAH) was always higher than the others and reached the maximum value of 141.3 mgP/100g soil after 17 days. In addition, the effect of the thickness and content of P(AA-co-MAH) on release propeties of phosphorous nutrient was also studied. The thickness and content of P(AA-co-MAH) play a role in controlling the slow release time of fertilizer.
