The influence of the tempering temperature on the structures and the mechanical properties of the high-strength alloy steel 12Cr2NiW

Quenched steel 12CrNiWV (after hardening at 910 oC) needs to apply tempering to eliminate stress and to equalize the structure of steel before operation. A highly stressed state and low plasticity after hardening cause a direct danger for the parts, especially under heavy load, the material tends to be a brittle fracture. The choice of tempering to complete the heat treatment process is an important issue for special steels. The experimental results of the article direct towards a reasonable tempering regime, so that alloy steel 12CrNiWV can develop its ability in high-tech industries such as mechanical engineering, aircraft engineering, and aerospace technology.
