This paper presents the application of the projection method to suppress clutter and shows the outstanding characteristics of the application of the projection matrix to the moving target indicator device (MTI) to meet the high requirements of the clutter suppresion. The simulation results show that the projection-based MTI system is also capable of separating low-speed targets on the background of clutter. Computationally, among the existing optimal processing methods, the proposed method is the most effective in the case of strong clutter because it does not have to compute the inverse of the noise correlation matrix.
