Abstract

Microfluidic systems are an emerging technology for the fabrication of microparticles for drug delivery systems. This study investigated the vorinostat carrying capacity of alginate microparticles generated by the microfluidic device. The efficiency of the microcapsules were examined by scanning electron microscopy, SEM, EDS-Mapping showing the change on the microcapsules surface compared with the original microparticles. Drug-excipient interaction studies using FT-IR spectroscopy showed no change in the characteristic peaks of the drug. The encapsulation efficiency is 58.8%. Overall, the present investigation corroborated successful development of microparticles of vornostat as an effective and cost-effective approach for delivery of vornostat.
